It's not you, it's me.

I fell for you the first time I used you. Never before had I felt just a difference in my skin after the first time of using a product. You are absolutely ideal for oily skin. You thoroughly hydrate it without making it the slightest bit greasy.
However, after this lovely time, which went by so fast, I have to leave you. I'm far too broke to be able to afford having you right now. Till then, I will have to use up all the other products I have bought before I can have you in my arms again. I have learnt that you really pay for what you get here.

No entanto, após este doce mas curto tempo juntos, tenho de te deixar. De momento, estou demasiado falida para te poder comprar outra vez. Até lá, terei de acabar todos os outros produtos que comprei para te poder ter nos braços outra vez. A qualidade paga-se cara.

Still on the Royal Spirit rush - at least in nailpolishes - OPI Dating a Royal.

 I have to say that what I like the most about this nail polish is the name. I'm hoping the colder months will bring a whole new appreciation for this blue nail polish. I'm just not in love with it right now.

Continuando no espírito Real  - pelo menos no que diz respeito aos vernizes - OPI Dating a Royal.

Confesso que o que gosto mais neste verniz é o nome. Pode ser que nos meses mais frios lhe ache uma renovada piada, mas por enquanto, não adoro.

Miss me when I'm gone

I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels that, most often, skincare products only start making a real difference and working properly when you're almost running out of it. And this was precisely what happened to me with Bioderma's Sébium AKN. During the first weeks I tried it, it didn't seem to do much for me. I was actually a bit disappointed to be honest. However, more recently, I have found that this has done what any other product hasn't for me: it actually diminishes and (after a few months extinguishes) any acne scaring and discolouration I had on my skin. And after realising this, of course I started noticing that I'm almost running out of it. Oh well. 

So I would say it is a good product. It does what it says it does, even though you have to be patient and apply it everyday for a couple of months. Nevertheless, I wouldn't recommend this if you're just trying to get rid of blemishes/acne.  It didn't seem to do much for me in that department, but it did wonders when it comes to evening out my skin tone.

Estou certa de que não sou a única que pensa que certos produtos de cosmética só começam verdadeiramente a "funcionar" quando chegamos ao fundo da embalagem. E foi exactamente isto que me aconteceu com o Sébium AKN da Bioderma. Durante as primeiras semanas que o experimentei, não pareceu fazer uma grande diferença na minha pele. Francamente, fiquei até um pouco desapontada. No entanto, mais recentemente, notei que este produto conseguiu o que mais nenhum que já experimentei consegui: ele diminui verdadeiramente (e, após uns meses, elimina completamente) quaisquer marcas de acne e descoloração que tinha na minha pele. Claro está que, pouco depois de me aperceber disto, reparei que já não me restava muito produto na embalagem. Enfim.

Por isso, no geral, diria que é um bom produto. Ele faz realmente aquilo que promete, embora seja precisa alguma paciência e aplicação diária durnte uns meses. No entanto, não recomendaria isto se estás apenas à procura de um produto que elimine o acne. Ele não me pareceu ajudar muito nesse plano, mas fez maravilhas no que toca a homogeneizar o meu tom de pele.

The perfect summer lips

L'Oreal Caresse in Lovely Rose

I think I've found the perfect lipstick for Summer: L'Oreal Caresse in 03 Lovely Rose. It has a balm-esque texture and so it feels very hidrating on the lips. Also, it is just right when you just want a tiny bit of colour on the lips and you don't feel like wearing tons of makeup or a really bright colour.

Penso que encontrei o batom perfeito para o Verão: O Rouge Caresse da L'Óreal na cor 03 Lovely Rose. Tem uma textura semelhante a um bálsamo e é extremamente hidratante. Além disto, é excelente quando queres apenas um toque de cor nos lábios e não te apetece usar muita maquilhagem ou uma cor muito vibrante.

M.A.C. Cremeblend Blush in Something Special

This is the first ever blush I got since I became really obsessed with all things makeup (before I just bought bottles and bottles of Benefit's Posie Tint and swore by that). I was set to find a cream blush suitable for an everyday look. The assistant at M.A.C. recommended this peachy shade for my pale complexion, and I trusted her choice.

Overall, this is undoubtedly one of my favourite blushes. I've already hit pan and I usually have to stop myself from wearing it so often! I'm definitely repurchasing this when I run out of it :)

Este foi o primeiro blush que eu comprei desde que fiquei obcecada com tudo o que tivesse a ver com maquilhagem (antes disso coleccionava frascos e frascos do Posie Tint da Benefit). Nessa altura estava decidida em encontrar um blush em creme para usar no dia-a-dia. A senhora da M.A.C. recomendou-me este blush em tons de pêssego para a minha pele clara, e eu confiei na escolha.

No fundo, este é, sem sombra de dúvida, um dos meus blushes preferidos. Já cheguei ao fundo da embalagem e tenho de me lembrar, de vez em quando, que não o posso usar sempre, que tenho de ir variando! Vou definitivamente comprá-lo outra vez quando o acabar :)

My inglot eyeshadow palette: Merengue Edition

Some weeks ago, I visited the recently inaugurated Inglot shop at Colombo. For those of you who are not familiarized with the brand, Inglot is a polish company especially well-known for their "Freedom System". Actually, the Freedom System is an innovate concept where you can choose your own palette (there are palettes of many shapes and sizes) and the colours you want inside. This means you can choose your perfect palette of eyeshadows, blushes, lipsticks and whatnot. You do not have to be stuck with a pretty palette with pre-defined colours that you would otherwise normally buy, but which always has that anoying little colour that you wish wasn't there just wasting space.

I am not exactly an eyeshadow person (my favourite makeup is actually blushers), but I opted for a palette of five eyeshadows, all of them matte. I heard heard a lot of good things about these shadows, which are far better better than the M.A.C. ones. And, after trying them out for a couple of days, I can honestly say they didn't disappoint (and I had high expectations!). They are extremely pigmented and there are colours (matte, shimmery, etc.) for everyone's taste. For me, I chose mostly neutral colours, with pinks, purples and beiges.

Each eyeshadow costs €6 and the palette of five costs €6.50, which means you can add one eyeshadow at a time, whenever you feel like it.

I was very impressed with the brand and excited to build other palettes of blushes and lipsticks!

Há umas semanas, visitei a recentemente inaugurada loja da Inglot no Colombo. Para quem não conhece, a Inglot é uma marca polaca, bem conhecida nos Estados Unidos, especialmente pelo seu "Freedom System". No fundo, o Freedom System é um conceito inovador que consiste na escolha de uma palete (há paletes de várias formas e com diferentes tamanhos) e das cores que as queremos. Significa tudo isto que podes escolher a palete perfeita de sombras, de blushes, de batons, etc. Não tens de ficar presa com uma palete bonitinha com cores pré-definidas, mas que tem sempre aquela cor irritante que desejavas que não estivesse lá.

Eu não sou propriamente uma pessoa que adore sombras (a minha perdição são mesmo os blushes), mas optei por uma palete de cinco sombras, todas elas mate. Tinha ouvido falar muito bem destas sombras, que são bem melhores que as da M.A.C., e depois de as experimentar durante uns dias, posso dizer que não me desapontaram (e eu tinha altas expectativas!). São extremamente pigmentadas e há cores (mates, brilhantes, etc.) para todos os gostos. Para a minha, escolhi sobretudo tons neutros, com rosas, roxos e beges.

Cada sombra custa apenas €6 e a palete de cinco sombras custa €6,50, o que significa que podes ir adicionando sombras à medida das tuas possibilidades.

Fiquei bastante impressionada com a marca, e ansiosa por construir outras paletes, de blushes e de batons!

This little detail is the only not-so-positive thing I have to say about Inglot (and which has been pointed out by many others): the eyeshadows are only identifiable by their numbers, they have no names, which makes things a bit difficult for those who, like myself, check out the colours on the Internet beforehand and then arrive at the store and have to turn a lot of eyeshadows to discover the correct numbers!

Este pequeno pormenor é a única coisa que posso apontar de menos positivo na Inglot (e que já foi dito por muitas outras pessoas): as sombras são identificáveis apenas por números, e não por nomes, o que complica um pouco as coisas para quem, como eu, vê primeiro na Internet as cores que quer e depois chega à loja a virar todas as sombras para descobrir os números certos!

Moving your eyeshadows around, or replacing them with new ones, is really simple (despite what many bloggers say). Because the lid is magnetised, you can use it to take the eyeshadows out, by simply placing it on the outer area of the eyeshadow!

Mudar as sombras de lugar, ou substituí-las com novas é extremamente simples (apesar do que muitas bloggers sugerem). Uma vez que a tampa da paleta é magnetizada, podes usá-la para tirar as sombras, basta colocá-la nas extremidades da sombra!

Benefit Erase Paste, you will be missed | Benefit Erase, vou ter saudades

I can only hope we'll meet again very soon.

Benefit Erase Paste is the best dark circle concealer I know. As for spots, scars or other imperfections, I could not say as I have never used for that - and I'll try and explain why.

It seems best suited for dark circles, and Mesdames Benefit seem to agree, as it is half concealer, half illuminator. The ability to explain it better than this fails me. It's thick, so in the colder months, I would recommend you dot it where needed and then go on and apply your blush or go for a two minute walk while it adapts to your body temperature. Only then, tap it carefully to finish applying Erase Paste. Most of the time, Erase Paste will instantly give you a well rested and hapier look. But it sometimes will settle in your undereye lines - but nothing that a few more taps with your ring finger won't solve.

I'll try and survive without Erase Paste for a couple of months, try and use the concealers I have acumulating on the back of my drawer. But I am almost certain that I'll go back to Erase Paste soon, as I haven't met a concealer that makes me look better that this one yet.

Benefit Erase Paste é o melhor corrector de olheiras que conheço. Quanto a corrector para borbulhas, cicatrizes ou outras imperfeições não sei exactamente se será o produto indicado, nunca experimentei - e já explico porquê.

Parece-me mais indicado para olheiras, e as Sras Benefit parecem concordar comigo, porque é meio corrector, meio iluminador. A capacidade para explicar melhor que isto falha-me. É espesso e por isso, nos meses mais frios, recomendaria, além da aplicação com os dedos, que se aplique alguns pontinhos onde necessário e depois se ponha o blush, ou se vá dar uma voltinha durante dois minutos ou assim, enquanto o produto se adapta à temperatura do corpo e só depois, com suaves pancadinhas se acabe de aplicar o Erase Paste. A maior parte dos dias, o Erase Paste, dá logo um ar mais repousado e feliz, pena que às vezes se vá acumular nas linhas debaixo dos olhos. Mas nada que mais umas pancadinhas não voltem a por no sítio.

Assim, vou agora andar uns tempos sem erase paste. Diria que vou tentar sobreviver e usar alguns correctores que tenho acumulados na gaveta. Mas imagino que vá voltar ao erase paste muito em breve, já que não conheço nenhum corrector que tenha melhor aspecto que este.

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in L'Exuberante : 1 lipstick, 3 ways

As Lisa Eldridge taught us, if you're going to invest on an expensive lipstick, it is advisible to buy a strong colour, because only then will you get the most use out of your lipstick. Below, I show you three different ways I apply my beloved Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick in L'Exuberante (#37). It is a really strong pink, with a matte finish (even though it doesn't feel drying on the lips at all. In fact, it has quite a creamy texture). 

Firstly, I used it simply as a stain, patting the tube gently on the lips. This way you get a very subtle lip colour, in the lines of "my lips but better" look.

In the second picture, I have one layer of lipstick and lastly, in the third picture you can see the colour in all its glory, with two layers (having blotted between each application). Also, keep in mind that if you use a lip brush, you'll get a more even application and greater look altogether.

Como nos ensinou a Lisa Eldridge, se vamos comprar um batom caro, é boa ideia optar por uma cor forte, assim se conseguindo retirar mais uso do batom. Em baixo, mostro-vos três diferentes formas em que uso o meu querido batom Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet na cor L'Exuberante. É um rosa muito forte, com um final mate (embora não seja de todo seco nos lábios. Tem, ao contrário, uma textura cremosa).

Em primeiro lugar, usei-o apenas como uma mancha, batendo gentilmente com o batom nos lábios. Desta forma, consegue-se uma cor muito subtil, ao estilo de my lips but better.

Na segunda foto, tenho apenas uma camada de batom e na última conseguem ver a cor em toda a sua glória, com duas camadas.

Best cleanser in the world

Avène's Extremely Gentle Cleanser defies all natural laws of beauty products. It is extremely gentle, as the name suggests (and as every cleanser should be - remember that cleansing your skin is a crucial part of your skincare routine and you do not want to use harsh products that rip off your skin's cells) and yet it is remarkably effective. Also, I would say this is suitable for all skin types (I am always really skeptical when products are advertised as being suitable for all skin types, because I immediately think they won't be suitable for any skin type, but this one is definitely an exception). 
I tried it based on Lisa Eldridge's recommendation and I'm now on my second bottle of it and I don't see myself looking for a different cleanser any time soon (the only thing that may change is adding a Clarisonic to my cleansing routine - but that will come later when my budget allows :p). Anyway, the reality is that I would gladly change up anything in my current skincare routine apart from this cleanser, which is staying for good. 

O Extremely Gentle Cleanser da Avène desafia todas as "leis" dos produtos de beleza. É extremamente suave, como o nome sugere (e como qualquer produto de limpeza deverá ser, ninguém quer um produto demasiado abrasivo) e, ainda assim, é incrivelmente eficaz. Além disto, eu diria que é apropriado para todos os tipos de pel (eu sou sempre um bocadinho céptica em relação a produtos que dizem que são adequados para todos os tipos de pele, porque acho sempre que os que dizem que são bons para todo o tipo de pele acabam por não ser bons para nenhum, mas este produto é definitivamente uma excepção).
Experimentei-o com base numa recomendação da Lisa Eldridge e esta é o meu segundo frasco e não me vejo a procurar nenhum substituto durante muito tempo (a única coisa que poderia alterar seria adicionar um Clarisonic à minha rotina de limpeza, mas isso virá mais tarde quando o meu orçamento o permitir :p). De qualquer forma, a verdade é que eu alteraria com agrado qualquer parte da minha rotina com excepção desta pequena jóia, que vai ficar durante uns bons tempos.

Holy Grail #1 Lemon Edition | Favorito de Todos os Tempos #1 Edição Limão

Seche Vite Fast Drying Top Coat.

Letting nail polish dry was always a  complex process. I would usually paint my nails at night, a few hours before going to sleep, and the polish seemed to be completely dry by then. The next morning, the sheets' marks on my nails would show me how wrong I was most of the times. So I went on the hunt for something that would help nail polish dry faster. The first product I tried were fast drying drops from Essence. I went crazy. But then realised that it didn't always work. When the nail polish was a bit thicker, I would have sheets' marks on my nails again. Maybe someday it will be in, and I will kill for that look. Not yet, though.

So one day I shrugged my shoulders and just bought what everybody else had and raved about: Seche Vite fast drying top coat. It couldn't be that bad, if so many people loved it. And it wasn't: it was one of the best inventions ever made. Five minutes (even with thick layers) and the nail polish is dry to the touch. Half an hour later you can go wash your dishes that the nail polish won't go anywhere (it wouldn't go when dry). Plus, it will by shinier and on your nails for much longer. What's there not to like?

A secagem do verniz sempre foi um processo complicado. Normalmente pintava as unhas à noite, umas horas antes de ir dormir e o verniz parecia estar completamente seco. De manhã, as marcas dos lençóis no verniz mostravam que estava completamente errada a maior parte das vezes. Fui à procura de qualquer coisa que ajudasse a resolver o problema. O primeiro produto que experimentei foram umas gotas de secagem rápida da Essence. Delirei. Mas nem sempre resolviam, se o verniz estivesse um bocadinho mais espesso, tinha outra vez unhas pintadas com textura dos lençóis. Talvez um dia pegue a moda e eu queira esse look, mas ainda não aconteceu.

Um dia encolhi os ombros e resolvi experimentar o todo-poderoso top coat de secagem rápida que toda a gente tinha e adorava. Se tanta gente gostava, não podia ser assim tão mau. E não era: era das melhores coisas jamais inventadas. Cinco minutos (mesmo com camadas espessas de verniz) está seco ao toque. Ao fim de meia hora já se pode ir lavar a loiça com descontracção que o verniz não vai a lado nenhum (que não fosse quando está seco). E mais, o verniz fica muito mais brilhante e dura muito mais tempo. Não podia estar mais satisfeita!

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm

I bought this lip balm because of Essiebutton's post on her blog (I told you she can be  pretty convincing, I'd even say she would be a great marketer!). 
In fact, even though Lisa Eldridge had mentioned it before in her French Pharmacie video, Estée was the one that really convinced me to try it out. 
And now, I can fairly say this has been the best lip balm I have ever used. It smells like a honey and lemon cake (nom nom nom!) and it lasts on the lips for HOURS!!! (in fact, it only wears off after a meal). And one of the unique features about this lip balm is that it has a matte finish, unlike most lip balms in the market. 
The only con that I can find about it is that it's a bit on the pricier side, retailing for approx. €12, but I can tell you it'll last you a long time! It's a great investment!

Comprei este batom por causa do blog post da EssieButton (eu disse-vos que ela consegue ser bastante persuasiva, diria até que teria um grande futuro em Marketing!). 
Embora a Lisa Eldridge já o tivesse mencionado num vídeo sobre cosméticos franceses, foi a Estée quem me convenceu a experimentá-lo, e posso dizer com certeza que é o melhor batom que já usei. Cheira a um delicioso bolo e mel e limão (yum!) e dura HORAS nos lábios!!! (apenas desaparece após refeições). 
Uma das características que o diferencia de muitos outros no mercado é que tem um acabamento mate. O único aspecto menos positivo que encontro neste batom é que ele é um bocadinho caro (custa aproximadamente €12), mas posso dizer-vos que é um excelente investimento e que vos durará um bom tempo!

Nars Nail Polish in Trouville

NARS's Trouville is the perfect nail polish for summer. The colour is a pink with touches of peach and coral. It changes colour according to the light, though: it looks more peachy in natural daylight, and in artificial lighting it does look more of a bright pink. 

I would say you would need 2 to 3 coats to get an opaque and homogenous texture. The nail polish has great consistency, the finish is very glossy and it lasts quite a while on your nails. In the picture, I had been wearing the nail polish for 3/4 days. This was the first nail polish I bought from NARS and I'm definitely curious to try out more colours from them!

O "Trouville" da NARS é o verniz perfeito para o Verão. A cor é rosa, com uns tons de pêssego e coral. No entanto, a cor muda consoante a luz: parece mais pêssego sob luz natural e a luz artificial fá-la parecer um rosa mais vibrante. Diria que são precisas 2 ou 3 camadas para uma textura opaca e homogénea. A consistência do verniz é excelente, o acabamento é extremamente brilhante, tipo gel e dura bastante tempo nas unhas. Na imagem, já tinha usado o verniz durante 3 ou 4 dias. Foi o primeiro verniz que comprei da NARS e estou ansiosa para experimentar mais cores deles!

Dear Chanel Mat Lumière, | Querida Chanel Mat Lumière,

I really don't know how you came to be discontinued.
You're playing around with my problem skin and greasiness feelings.
If there's any foundation that has gotten closer to a holy grail status for me, it's been you. Now I continue am lost in the world, but without my favourite foundation, which only makes things worse. It was you who made my skin presentable and less oily more confident to face the world. Even though you didn't last too long on the skin, your luminous matte finish left me happy for most of my day.
I don't know if my face my heart will ever recover. For now, I still have half a bottle. Maybe I'll get along with your substitute, Perfection Lumière. I'll try to get to know her one of these days. I'll miss you,

É brincar com os problemas de pele e oliosidades sentimentos das pessoas. 

Se há base que se aproximou alguma vez do status de holy grail para mim, foste tu. Agora continuo estou perdida no mundo outra vez, mas sem base preferida, o que só piora as coisas. Eras tu que me deixavas com uma cara mais apresentável e menos oleosa mais confiante para enfrentar o dia. Embora não tivesses a maior das durabilidades, o teu acabamento matte mas luminoso deixava-me feliz durante a maior parte do dia.

The polish colour is a peachy-orange, with a jelly finish, not completely opaque.

Beauty on a Budget #1 : I smell something fishy! | Sovina e linda #1 : Há alguma coisa no ar!

Zara Woman Black Perfume

On my last trip to ZARA I found this little gem waiting for me in the counter display. I tried it just for fun and was amazed to find out this perfume smells EXACTLY like J'adore from Dior!!! I kid you not! And, of course, here comes the part that blew me away: it costs only €5.95! So, in a time of financial crisis, why not embrace the cheap and chic philosophy and save some euros on this one? ;) It comes in a minimalist bottle that's perfect to carry around in your bag for a midday little sprinkle, even though the staying power of this little beauty is remarkable.

Na minha última ida à ZARA encontrei este pequeno tesouro, que me esperava no balcão. Experimentei-o por curiosidade e fiquei abismada ao descobrir que ele cheira EXACTAMENTE igual ao J'adore da Dior!!! Não estou a brincar! E, claro, aqui vem a parte que me deixou de boca aberta: custa apenas €5.95! Por isso, num tempo de crise financeira, porque não adoptar a filosofia cheap and chic e poupar uns euros neste? ;) O perfume vem num frasco minimalista que é perfeito para trazer na mala para uma borrifadela a meio do dia, embora ele dure imenso tempo na pele!

Rumour has it (ask Mr. Google) this is the only nail polish to touch Her Majesty, The Queen of England's nails. And even though it's also known which nail polish Kate Middleton wore on her wedding (to be precise, nail polishes, one from Essie and the other is Bourjois), if we're going to start wearing royal nail polishes, we might as well start with the Queen's.
Ballet Slippers is the palest nude-rose that you can imagine, or even a pinkish white-nude. It's not opaque, but with a couple of coats you can easily achieve that finish. I was just expecting a translucent Essie that the Queen of England also used, but I actually really liked it. I'm very impressed.

Dizem por aí (perguntem ao Sr. Google) que é o único verniz que toca as unhas da Sua Majestade a Rainha de Inglaterra. E, embora também seja público o verniz que Kate Middleton usou no seu casamento (ou vernizes, já que consta que foram dois, um da Essie e outro Bourjois), se é para começar a experimentar vernizes reais, que se comece pela Rainha.

O verniz é o rosa-nude mais pálido que conseguirem imaginar, ou o branco-nude mais rosa. Não é opaco, mas com várias camadas o resultado facilmente se aproximará disso. Estava à espera de um Essie transparente que a Rainha de Inglaterra também usava, afinal gostei. Muito impressionada.

I had been on the search for the perfect travel wash bag for quite a while now and I've finally settled on this lovely one from Muji! It looks really small but it fits A LOT of stuff! It keeps things perfectly organized inside, with smart dividers and compartments. I sincerely think I've found the perfect cosmetics case.

Já andava à procura de um necessaire de viagem ideal e finalmente encontrei-o na Muji do Chiado! O tamanho é perfeito: parece muito pequeno e não ocupa muito espaço na mala, mas cabe imensa coisa lá dentro!  Tem bastantes compartimentos e elásticos para manter tudo organizado, é mesmo o necessaire perfeito, não podia estar mais contente com a compra.
